How to Anonymize a CAMT File Before Sharing
Create a synthetic copy while understanding what pseudonymisation can and cannot promise.
Choose classes deliberately
Account and bank identifiers, names and addresses, references, remittance, agents, and supplementary data carry different disclosure risks. Review the proposed paths before export.
Keep transformations local
A seed can make repeated values consistent without storing a source-to-replacement map remotely. The original bytes should remain unchanged and separately recoverable.
Do not call it anonymous
Structure, dates, amounts, attributes, or proprietary fields may enable linkage. Treat the result as synthetic and potentially sensitive, and never as bank-authenticated output.
