How to Open a CAMT File Privately

A safe workflow for inspecting ISO 20022 account-reporting XML without uploading statement contents.

Start with the namespace

A filename is not reliable evidence of a CAMT family or version. Read the Document namespace and business root together, and reject unknown combinations instead of selecting a nearby parser.

Keep the original available

Viewing should preserve original bytes. Raw display must render XML as text, and reset or original download should remain possible throughout the session.

Read the hierarchy

A statement entry can contain one or more transaction details. Treat those detail rows as children, not additional account postings.
